We had a really smooth flight from Paris and arrived in Singapore to the heat and humidity at 7 am. Our driver met us at the airport and we were at the Novotel Clarke Quay Hotel by 8 am.
The air-conditioning was so cool in the lobby and bar area we didn’t even bother going for a swim in the rooftop pool as it was extremely hot outside.
We got into our room about 12 noon and were amazed to see the view we had from our window.

When we stayed here 7 years ago we were on a Privilege floor up much higher and the view was no-where near as good as this time.
The lights do not come on at Clarke Quay till later in the day so the view changes.
We were very aware of avoiding jetlag so tried not to sleep.
We went for a walk through Clarke Quay and over to Riverside to do some beer tasting at Beerwerkz ( also did this 7 years ago).

After the first 4 glass sampler it was pouring rain so we stayed and tasted another 4 beers. Paul has to share them now he has got me drinking more beer!

A band was setting up at Clarke Quay and was so loud we found an Irish Pub out of direct line of the band’s speakers and Paul settled in to watch the Storm and Rabbitohs when it came on the TV. I went back to the hotel to watch some tennis and sneak a rest.

When we were here last time we went to Jumbo Seafood so Paul could have Singapore Chilli Crab. He booked a table last week and it is so busy we could only get in at 9.15 pm But it was worth it. I had the bean curd dish I had last time and it is the best tofu I have ever eaten. I also tried a prawn dish but it missed the mark, but Paul’s Chilli Crab was great….and messy!!!

We slept until lunch time on Saturday, then went to the restaurant in the hotel for a late lunch. Paul had Singapore Laksa which had a whole boiled egg, not something we are used to at home.

Wow, wow, wow. Our last night was fantastic. Seven years ago we saw Singapore constructing the Gardens by the Bay. Tonight we went to check it out. What a fantastic way to finish our seven week holiday.

We left the hotel at 5.30 pm so we would be at the gardens for the light shows.

We explored the Flower Dome, the Cloud Forest and watched the 7.45 pm light show near the beautiful trees.

Then we waited about half an hour in the queue to get a taxi back to our hotel as the crowds were huge. We went to a pub near our hotel for a few drinks and late dinner.
What a fabulous holiday. We fly home to Sydney tomorrow. This is my last post. I have enjoyed a few Cosmopolitans to spend the rest of our Singapore dollars.

Hope you have enjoyed the ride.
Cheers
